Publish date: 7/27/2010 Samantha Samantha was born July 18, 2006, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland to Heather (Simms) and Bart Schichtel. Samantha was truly a gift, bringing joy to everyone she met; a spark when encountered brought a lasting, sticky happiness. Adorable, beautiful, gorgeous, sweet, angelic, enchanting, captivating, infectious, innocent, and oh so incredibly cute, she is deeply loved and will be missed by so many. Samantha is survived by her parents, Bart and Heather Schichtel of Loveland; grandparents Jim and Judi Bishop of Highlands Ranch, Rick and Cynde Simms of Littleton and Evelyn Schichtel of Staunton, Va. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Schichtel; and grandfather Ralph Schichtel. A memorial service will be held at Faith Evangelical Church, 2707 N. Wilson in Loveland, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31. Picnic lunch to follow at the Fairgrounds Park in Loveland. The Samantha Schichtel Memorial Fund has been established at Wells Fargo Bank. Our babysitter/second grandma called us today to tell us she had read it. She said she was just so touched by the words used to describe Samantha. She asked us to donate any money we would be paying her tomorrow to Samantha's memorial fund. Samantha's effect on others did not end with her passing, it is still growing and I know it will continue.

You don't know me, Heather and Bart, but I grew up in Plano and knew Sam's grandparents pretty much my whole life. I am a Simms now, having married Grandpa Rick's cousin Steve Simms. Since I heard about Sam I have kept you and her in my prayers, and read your blog. As a nurse I have known little ones like her both in the hospital setting and in the schools. I know even without having meet her how special she was. What she gave the world cannot be measured. Bless you all, and I do hope to meet you some time. I have my green and pink on today and prayers and love are beaming west to you.Kelly Simms
